For us, it was important that the Kristall plant's territory had a unique image of a place with an "industrial past" that distinguished it from the other cultural clusters of our city. The careful preservation of the tangible and intangible heritage of the factory is the founding principle of our research. We have tried to develop a uniform approach to the territory in order to preserve and enhance its integrity.
The main theme of our project is the piping system present throughout the country. In its day, the Kristall Mill was one of the largest spirits producers. In our project, the piping represents on the one hand its initial function through the image of a still; on the other hand, it becomes a signalling system, an element of planning and lighting. Some of the pipes are transformed into works of art, symbolizing the technological process of the factory. Having a utility function (a bench or bike parking), they would preserve the identity and the spirit of the place as well as telling the historical function of a particular building.
