All the buildings of the Choral Synagogue are located in the center of Moscow in Spasoglinishevskiy Street in the "Kitay-Gorod" conservation area. The territory in question is specific because of numerous historical buildings alongside the buildings of the twentieth century, as well as the metro facilities that disfigure the neighborhood's image. The density of construction is quite high, the relief is quite dynamic.
The building of the choral synagogue is a monument of great importance, a historical and cultural monument. It is built after the project of the architects Eibuschitz and Klein at the end of the XIX century. In 2000-2006, the main building was restored.
A provisional pavilion is set up on the territory of the synagogue. Buildings 1,4,5,6,7 were demolished during the 20th century.
After the restoration of the main building of the synagogue, the aesthetic dissonance with the pavilion became evident. In addition, the pavilion does not meet the current needs of the synagogue. Nowadays, the worshipers and the community need to have a store of hidden products, hidden kitchen and additional premises. Given the specific nature of the premises mentioned, it is impossible to build them in the main building without impairing its unique architecture. The only solution is the regeneration of dependencies in the courtyard which becomes the subject of our proposal.
The new building will be built in place of the existing pavilion. It will consist of three floors with a basement. On the east side, he will lean on the staircase of the synagogue, on the west side, on the wall bearing the metro facilities.
The first floor is detached from the building to leave a gateway to the inner courtyard. The second and third floors are linked with the same floors of the existing building.
The architectural image is determined by the need to "hide" the life of this building on one side, on the other hand, by the desire to highlight the historic building. In addition, the architectural elements of the dependence have a religious meaning.
The volume of the outbuilding is designed as a wall-console on the level of 2-3 floors so as not to carry the weight on the existing building but only to rub shoulders.
The entrance to transport is planned from the street B. Spasoglinischevski. Additional parking spaces are not required.
