AB "RDNK" (Russia) in collaboration with Sasaki, Walker Associates (USA),
Our project is dedicated to the centenary of the mass plan of Moscow. In 1935, was created the first mass plan of Moscow as capital. This plan included very important urban development stages, which were then supplemented by the mass plan of 1971. We tried to take the best of our heritage in order to solve the problems residing in the current mass plan. Our guiding threads were the development of the "green ecological carcass", transport and pedestrian zones, and river infrastructure. We opted for a polycentric city that offers many choices to its inhabitants without imposing strict rules of habitat. The development of the territories adjacent to the Moscow River is unthinkable without the development of the river itself. Formerly, for centuries, the river routes were a true route of communication between the cities and between their parts. Nowadays, this function is completely abandoned. It is bound to new requirements to the speed of transportation of goods and people. The Moscow River is today the only very low load road, it is necessary to use it again in order to recognize its function. In our project, Moscow becomes a comfortable city, capable of making people happy. In this context, the river being today an element of aesthetic value would turn into an efficient, modern and ecological road.
